Rename Race Course Metro Station to 'Malcha', Demands Yogendra Yadav

Ousted AAP leader Yadav has put forward three demands, including Race Course Metro station’s name to be changed to Malcha.

NEW DELHI: Ousted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and one of the Swaraj Abhiyan leaders Yogendra Yadav on Sunday put forward three demands, including Race Course Metro station’s name to be changed to Malcha.

“We farmers have come here to put forward our three demands. The first demand is that the license of this betting site (race course) should be cancelled. The lease of the land has already expired and so the land should be taken back by the government,” Yadav said while protesting at the capital’s Race Course area.

“The second demand is that this betting and gambling site should be destroyed and be converted into a memorial for farmers, who sacrificed a lot for the nation’s freedom, and the 3 lakh farmers, who were forced to commit suicide for the past 20 years,” he added.

“The third demand is that Race Course Metro station’s name should be changed to Malcha metro station so that sacrifices made by this village’s people can be remembered,” Yadav further mentioned.

“We have come here to give a public notice addressed to the Prime Minister. We have already sent this notice via email. We hope at least one of the authorities here will accept our notice,” he added.

Swaraj Abhiyan claimed that the land, which was part of Malcha village, was being acquired by the British when they shifted the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. However, while the landing was being forcible acquired, the farmers were being offered pittance as compensation.
