Books Were His Assets

NEW DELHI: He was preparing for Shillong lecture when i met him on Friday at his official residence in Delhi. I was a frequent visitor at 10 Rajaji Marg even after he left the office and i took up other assignments in the government. I spent 45 minutes with him and we talked about several things including his lecture and my assignments.  I remember he came to Rashtrapati Bhawan with the two suitcases and after his tenure left with those two suitcases.   He also had 4-5 trunks full of books but did not have any other worldly possession like properties or any other assets. During my meeting he asked me what are the works i’m doing and he told me whatever you will do, it will be brilliant. His demise is a great loss to India and humanity.
