Government Official Held for Taking Bribe in Madhya Pradesh

BHIND: A patwari (government officer) was caught red-handed for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 3,000 for regularising a marriage garden at Lahrauli village in the district.

The patwari, Sanjay Raman termed the marriage garden as illegal and initially took Rs 4,000 as first installment from the complainant, Pradeep Singh, a Lokayukta inspector said today. The marriage garden was constructed on the private land of Singh.

However while paying initial amount of Rs 4,000, Singh recorded the conversation and later tipped-off Lokayukta about it. After this ACB laid a trap and caught Raman red handed when he was taking another installment of Rs 3,000 from Singh yesterday.

He was arrested and released on the spot by the Lokayukta sleuths after registering a case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
