Government Schemes to be Named after Ex-President Kalam

NEW DELHI: Paying rich tributes to A P J Abdul Kalam, the Centre and state governments are planning to name various schemes and colleges after the former President.

Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani has announced that the ‘Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan’ will be renamed ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan’ as a tribute to the popular former President.

Kalam himself had launched the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) on July 9 in the national capital.  While launching the scheme, the ‘people’s President’ had talked about developing the spirit of innovation and experimentation among the students.

Emphasising the value of learning, Kalam had said, “We learn to live, we learn to think and we learn to learn”. Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday renamed the Kisanganj Agriculture College after Kalam.
