Cop Stabbed by Sikh Protesters in Jammu, Weapon Snatched

A constable was stabbed allegedly by some sikh youth protesters who also fled away with his AK-47 rifle here, police said.

JAMMU: A constable was stabbed allegedly by some sikh youth protesters who also fled away with his AK-47 rifle here, police said today.

The constable, identified as Joginder Pal of Mirpur in Kathua district and posted as Personal Security Officer with DSP (Jammu East) Mohammad Rafiq, was stabbed late last night by some miscreants from among the group of sikh youths staging a protest on Jammu-Pathankote Highway in Digiana area, a police officer said.

The incident took place a day after Sub-inspector Arun Kumar was critically wounded when he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by some sikh youths.

Pal has been shifted to the GMC hospital, where his condition has improved, the officer said.

"We have recovered the AK-rifle from some people this afternoon and a case has been registered. Arrest will also take place," he said.
