NEW DELHI:  A day after a US Congressional briefing on violence on religious minorities in India, Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) noted that it showed a “lack of understanding” of the country and its constitutional set-up.   On Wednesday, the US Congress’ Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission organised a hearing on ‘Violence against Religious Minorities in India’ in Washington, where one US lawmaker and four experts criticised NDA Govt for increasing atrocities. “We regard such efforts as based on lack of understanding of India, its Constitution and society. It is well known that the Constitution of India guarantees equal religious, social and political rights to all its citizens, including minorities,” Vikas Swarup said.
