Mystery Tweets Link Journo With Rahul

NEW DELHI:  The city police have registered a case against three “anonymous” Twitter handles following a woman journalist’s complaint that  “defamatory and sexually explicit” tweets linking her to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi  had been posted allegedly by the trio.

In her letter to the Vasant Vihar police station, Swati Chaturvedi alleged that @LutyensInsider had defamed her since Section 66A of the IT Act was struck down by the Supreme Court.

“This handle has a wide following of over 40,000 and this campaign of sexual harassment, defamation and character assassination is now crossing all limits,” she wrote, adding that she had complained to Twitter as well, but to no avail.

Along with her complaint, she has enclosed the screenshots of the tweets in question. The tweets suggest that Chaturvedi has been allegedly “stalking Rahul for a physical relationship”.

“I would request you to take action as my modesty as a woman has been outraged by this campaign of sexual harassment and lies,” she wrote, requesting that her complaint be treated as an FIR and formal proceedings be started against the “obnoxious handle” behind it.

The other two Twitter handles named in the complaint are @SoftSinghYadav and @sachindevtripat.

A senior police officer told Express that they had started a probe into the matter.
