No Anti-national Activity: Kalanithi

NEW DELHI:  After Home Ministry’s refusal to allow security clearance to TV channels owned by the former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran’s family, his brother and chairman of SUN TV Kalanithi Maran knocked on the door of Home Minister Rajnath Singh saying his company was never involved in any anti-national activity.

The Home Ministry had made it clear that as enough evidence existed against the owners in at least three cases including charges of money laundering, it could not grant security clearance.

Staring at closure, Kalanithi Maran appealed to the Home Minister Rajnath Singh for reconsidering the decision of his Ministry. The Express first reported that the Home Ministry recently granted security clearance to a Director in SUN DTH but made it clear that the decision should not be seen as security clearance to Kalanithi Maran’s company.

Maran claimed that while vetting security clearance, his company was singled out by the Ministry whereas many other firms were allowed to operate. He also cited the employment of nearly 5,000 people and future of several enterprises linked to the network.
