Finally, SAU to Get an Address

NEW DELHI:After functioning for the last five years from a temporary abode -- a former multi-storey hotel built for the 1982 Delhi Asian Games -- the South Asian University (SAU) will finally get a permanent address here after a wildlife panel under the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) gave it green clearance on the condition that there will be no damage to the nearby Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary.  The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) at its meeting on June 2 considered the proposal for constructing a permanent campus for SAU at Maidan Garhi here.

The Forest Department of Delhi has sent the ‘no objection’ for the establishment of the institute.  After discussions, the Committee recommended the proposal in view of the Centre’s commitment to the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc), but subject to conditions prescribed by Delhi’s Chief Wildlife Warden.
