KOCHI: The inquiry by Sports Authority of India Director General Injeti Srinivas into the suicide incident at the SAI Water Sports Centre in Alappuzha has ruled out any “foul play” leading to the death of 16-year-old rower Aparna Ramabhadran last week.
In the report submitted to Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Srinivas has noted: “All four girls allegedly consumed alcohol (beer) at a wedding function four or five days prior to entering the suicide pact. Some seniors came to know about it and they advised them not to do so in future.
“Later, when the warden came to know about it, she scolded the four girls and threatened to inform their parents. She was actually acting like a ‘mother’ to them, reminding them to achieve success in sports,” the report says.
