Protests in Kashmir Valley against Sacrilegious Act

The mountainous Bhaderwah and Kishtwar towns in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed protests and shutdown on Friday after people in the area allegedly found verses of Holy Quran written in the remains of burnt fire-crackers. Curfew-like restrictions were imposed in parts of Kashmirto prevent separatists’ protests against killing of 18-year-old trucker in Udhampur following cow slaughtering rumours. Bhaderwah town in Doda district observed complete shutdown. The shutdown was called by Anjuman-e-Islamia after verses of Holy Quran were found in the remains of fire-crackers on Thursday.

CBI Books JD(U) MP in LTC Scam as Sahani Cries Foul 

The CBI on Friday filed a chargesheet against Anil Kumar Sahani, a JD(U) MP from Bihar where polls are underway, and three others in the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) scamthat broke out in 2013. Sahani denied the charges against him, alleging that this is yet another blatant attempt by the Centre to misuse CBI by filing a “bogus charge sheet” against him at a time when Bihar is in the midst of Assembly elections. Anup Singh Panwar, an employee of Delhi-based Air Cruise Travels Private Limited, N S Nair, then Office Superintendent (Traffic), Air India and one Arvind Tiwari were also named in the chargesheet. Interestingly, after Sahani’s allegation, the CBI came up with a statement saying that the findings were based on its probe into the case.
