Sisodia Takes Charge of Delhi Law Department

NEW DELHI: Controversies surrounding the AAP Government in Delhi appear to be never-ending. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday divested Kapil Sharma of the Law portfolio and appointed his close confidant and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as the new Law Minister.

It was a Cabinet meeting chaired by Kejriwal which decided to effect the change of guard in the Law Department. Sources said Kejriwal has asked Mishra to focus on the Tourism and Water Ministry.According to them,the CM had chosen Sisodia for the Law Ministry primarily because the government was contesting several cases on key issues in different courts.

Also, the prosecution wing comes directly under the command of the state administration. The source said that city administration would like to keep tabs on the prosecution wing to monitor the day-to-day proceedings of key cases in different courts.
