A Sunni Muslim group from Mumbai has issued a fatwa against popular music composer A R Rahman and Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi who are working on a film titled ‘Muhammad: Messenger of God’ (directed by Majid Majidi).
Raza Academy who issued the fatwa is against the title of the film as according to them it can be used in a bad manner if people dislike it.
The group has already written to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Home Minister Rajnath Singh demading a ban on the film.
Saeed Noorie who is the chief of Raza Academy will be meeting Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to discuss the same.
They have also asked Muslims to protest against the film without crossing the ‘legal’ limits.
Majid Majidi who is a well known Iranian filmaker has directed films like Children of Heaven, The Color of Paradise, and Baran.
