India's Family System 'Akshunn': Bhagwat

JAIPUR: RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat today said despite challenges India's family system was not only 'akshunn' (unbroken) but it was a 'takat' (power) of Hindu Samaj.

On the second day of his nine-day visit to Rajasthan, Bhagawat was addressing the concluding session of "columnist" seminar titled "India's point of view on Women" at a closed door gathering here.

Bhagwat was quoted by an RSS release as having told the gathering that "with 'takat of samaj' (power of society), people will recognise their root and strengthen it to build society to face westernisation or any other attacks (challenges)."

"We should view all subjects and problems on the basis of 'Hindu Jeevan Drishti' (Hindu vision of life). Being 'ekatam' (monistic) of Hindu way of life, man and woman are manifestation of single entity. And that is why it is emphasised on unity instead of equality," Bhagwat said.

"The Indian tradition is that of accepting good things from eternal values of world and by rejecting wrong conventions," he said. "The society will remain firm on the basis of these principles for giving aim of life and direction to entire humanity," the RSS chief added.

"We should relieve the things which are not proven right and there is a need to consider 'Hindu Dharma' on the scientific criteria," he said.

Only Hindu Dharma has got a capability to lead universe with coordination, Bhagwat, who entered the auditorium in the morning and heard each speaker, said in his valedictory session.

"Hence, we have to move forward with eternal values and modern circumstances," he said.

About 130 columnists from 13 states including Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, J&K, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand participated in the two-day seminar.

The RSS chief also met Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh at Raj Bhawan here.

The Governor wished Bhagwat on his birthday, according to a Raj Bhawan release here.

Bhagwat stayed with Singh for about 45 minutes. PTI
