NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will issue a notification for the first phase of assembly elections in Bihar today.
Forty nine assembly constituencies will go to polls during the first phase of elections on October 12.
The last date for the filing of nominations for this phase is September 23.
Scrutiny will be held on September 24 and candidates can withdraw their nominations by September 26.
Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases between October 12 and November 5.
The counting of votes will take place on November 8. The term of the current Bihar State Assembly expires on November 29.
