Rape Victim, Kin Confine Themselves in Home as Accused Threatens to Kill Them

However, the family was taken out of the house by police this evening and two of the accused have been arrested.

SITAPUR: A 'gang-rape victim' and her family members have locked themselves in their house here after the accused persons allegedly threatened to "eliminate" them if they did not withdraw the case filed against them.

However, the family was taken out of the house by police this evening and two of the accused have been arrested.

The 17-year-old 'gang-rape' victim and her family members had locked themselves in their house following alleged threats by the accused to "eliminate" them if they did not withdraw the case against them.

"I have recorded my statement that I was raped by Kundan, Sunil and Baboo. Now they are threatening to kill the entire family," the victim had said.

The victim's mother also alleged that they were being threatened by the accused.

"They (the accused) came to our place and openly threatened that they will go to jail only after killing the family. They are pressurising us to withdraw the case. We are not leaving our house," she said.

The family had closed all the doors and panels of their house with bricks.

Additional District Magistrate Sarvesh Dixit said the family was taken out and they are safe.

"The brick walls, which the house inmates erected following threats by the accused, have been removed and the inmates taken out," he said.

Two accused - Sunil and Kundan - have been arrested and efforts were being made to nab the third accused - Baboo, he said.

"The family is safe and police have been deployed at their house," Dixit said.

The girl was allegedly gang-raped by the three accused on August 28 when she had gone out with her sister-in-law. Later, an FIR was lodged at Manpur village in this connection on September 1.
