ITBP Jawan on Election duty in Bihar Shoots Self, Hospitalised

An ITBP jawan was injured today after he accidentally shot himself with his assault rifle in Buxar district of Bihar, a medical officer said.

BUXAR: An ITBP jawan was injured today after he accidentally shot himself with his assault rifle in Buxar district of Bihar, a medical officer said.

The ITBP jawan, Rakesh Kumar, was cleaning his AK-47 at Buniyadi school premise when he accidentally pressed the trigger of the rifle and in the process shot himself in his leg, Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital R K Gupta said.

The jawan has been referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in view of his critical condition, Gupta said.

Kumar is part of the ITBP contingent deployed on election duty in Bihar on the directives of the Election Commission.
