Bharti Expected to Surrender at Dwarka Police Station Today

NEW DELHI: Aam Admi Party(AAP) MLA Somnath Bharti is likely to surrender at the Dwarka Police Station here at around 7p.m. today.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had ordered Bharti, to surrender before the Delhi police failing which, they warned that they won’t hear his plea for bail on October 1.

“The SC has asked Somnath Bharti to surrender by today evening. Then the court will consider on Thursday whether a reconciliation is possible or not. Somnath has been asked to surrender. I will inform my client as soon as I establish contact with him,” Vijay Aggarwal, Bharti's lawyer, had told media here.

Bharti had moved the apex court seeking protection from arrest in the case and a direction to restrain the Delhi Police from arresting him till his plea challenging the high court order is decided.

Bharti has been accused of domestic violence and attempt to murder by his wife Lipika Mitra.
