NEW DELHI: One would have thought of it as nostalgia that age invariably brings, but for the turn of events.
Veteran BJP leader, LK Advani spent a part of his Wednesday morning fondly flipping through the photographs in a beautifully produced album of his 50th wedding anniversary with wife, Kamla.
It was a coffee table book of sorts that his daughter Pratibha had lovingly brought out and gifted her parents. “Pratibha told her mother, ‘since I could not attend your wedding I want to see all the rituals done all over again’,” Advani recounted, while showing the photographs and identifying family members from either sides to this correspondent. At the end of the day, it appeared that the veteran politician may have had a premonition. By evening, wife and constant companion of 51 years, Kamla Advani was no more. She passed away after a cardiac arrest, leaving him, Pratibha and son Jayant behind.
Those who have known Advani and covered the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party have also known his wife Kamla, whose deep influence on his life, Advani had conscientiously acknowledged in his autobiography.
