Anupam Kher Prevented From Visiting NIT Srinagar

Senior police officers spoke with him at the VIP lounge of the airport and denied him entry to the NIT campus.

SRINAGAR:  Even as impasse between non-local students of NIT-Srinagar and the administration continues, police on Sunday stopped Bollywood actor Anupam Kher at the Srinagar Airport and prevented him from visiting the institute. The actor, who is the husband of BJP MP Kirron Kher, was later sent back to Delhi.

Outstation students have demanded the postponement of exams, which are scheduled to begin on Monday, but the administration while rejecting their demand has offered them an opportunity to appear for the exams later.

Kher arrived at Srinagar Airport on Sunday morning. The actor wanted to visit NIT Srinagar to interact with non-local students in the campus. However, senior police officers spoke with him at the VIP lounge of the airport and denied him entry to the NIT campus in view of the prevailing tension there.

He also Tweeted about the 'gift' that he was supposed to give to the students of NIT Srinagar.
