ITANAGAR: The Centre has enhanced the allocation of fund to Arunachal Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for the financial year 2016-17.

The union Ministry of Rural Development has enhanced the PMGSY allocation to Rs 468 crore including state matching share of Rs 47 crore for the current fiscal, an official communique said here today.

Last year, the total fund available for the scheme was Rs 275 crore and enhancement of additional Rs 100 crores was given during March 2016.

The ongoing PMGSY work would be pushed further for early completion of the project.

The new proposals for about Rs 1500 crore would also be submitted to the ministry for consideration and sanction for the new connectivity, mostly in the remote border areas, the communiqué said.

The present government is also initiating steps to increase absorption capacity of the state and to strengthen quality and maintenance monitoring mechanisms, the communiqué added.
