JAMMU: Pakistani troops today violated the ceasefire along the international border by resorting to small arm firing on the forward Regal Post in Samba sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire along the IB using small arms and targeted the forward Regal Post in Samba sector," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Samba, Joginder Singh said.

They fired five-six rounds of small arms at around 0215 hours. BSF personnel manning the forward position did not retaliate, he said.

Pakistan Army had on Sunday resorted to mortar shelling and firing in Poonch sector after a lull of nearly seven months, following which the two sides held a battalion commander-level flag meeting to discuss the situation.
