MACHILIPATNAM: Four youths drowned in the Krishna river at Viswanathapalle in Koduru mandal on Friday. They were from Suddapalle in Chebrolu mandal in Guntur district and had come to Viswanathapalle to attend the Addanki Nancharamma jatara.
According to the police, the victims were identified as Jayakrishna (17), M Pavan (15), T Nagaraju (14) and A Srikanth (16). They went to the riverbank with their family members and they got into the river for a swim. It was Jayakrishna who first got sucked into a sink hole and was washed away. The other three went to his rescue but they too were pulled down. When their family members raised an alarm, fishermen searched for them and found their bodies after a few hours.
