BULANDSHAHR :The investigation into the horrific highway gang-rape case hit a roadblock with three accused still at large. In a bid to nab them, the police have prepared sketches of the two absconding accused — Salim and Parvez — on Wednesday.

The senior police officers, including SSP Annes Ansari, visited the crime spot on Thursday and have recorded the victims’ statement again. Ansari said  the victims’ statements will be recorded before the magistrate under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure on Thursday.  The police suspect the involvement of local people in gang-rape of the  woman and her 14-year-old daughter as the “assailants had talked about bringing a tractor to  pull out the car from the mud.”

The police have also sent the evidence collected from the crime spot for forensic study.

The victims and their family members were shown around 50 photographs of criminals of the various areas and they identified two of them Salim and Zafar Singh, police said.
