Senior IAS officer commits suicide at Lucknow residence

LUCKNOW: In a bizarre incident, a senior IAS officer of UP cadre, Sanjeev Dubey allegedly committed suicide at his residence on here Thursday evening. Posted as Principal Secretary in Home Guard department, Dubey an officer of 1987 batch, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his house in Gautampalli locality.

While the reason for suicide is yet to be ascertained, the police claimed that a suicide note was recovered from the site of suicide in which Dubey had cited his bad health as the reason for the extreme step. 

According to sources close to Dubey, he was believed to be under depression for past several months due to illness. His wife and daughter live in Gurugram.

On getting the information of suicide, many senior IAS and IPS officers including state Director General of Police, rushed to the spot. 

Police were making arrangements to take the body to KGMU's mortuary in order to get an autopsy conducted. "We are in talks with the family and will decide when to conduct the postmortem," said additional superintendent of Lucknow (East) Shivram Yadav.
