It took only a week for the passengers to turn around the brand new coaches of Mahamana Express into unclean bogies, littered with dirty food packets and waste all over.
Pictures of water clogged basins and filthy coaches taken by Dainik Bhaskar have raised strong reactions on social media. The 18 coach Mahamana Express named after Benaras Hindu University co-founder and social activist Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya was flagged off on January 22nd by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Here are the tweets:
The superfast train plies between the capital and Varanasi in just 14 hours. The Express train with classy interiors had upgraded facilities like controlled discharged water tap, exhaust fan and LED lights in the toilet, well designed ladders for climbing up to upper berths, more number of plug points and so on.
DISGUSTING. This is what the passengers have done to Mahamana Express. Such a shame! pic.twitter.com/wen7NYOH2U— InK (@Intolerant_InK) January 30, 2016
Despite attempts by the Indian Railways to upgrade its existing infrastructure for customer satisfaction, passengers continue to be stuck in the same rut of unhygienic coaches. It seems passengers are still not happy with better amenities and are happy with usual stinky atmosphere. People took to twitter asking passengers to behave properly and keep the coaches clean.
