NEW DELHI: The tussle between the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and the police seems to be unending as the B.S. Bassi-led team has again refused to provide information on crime against women.
Police Commissioner Bassi had earlier today said that he would tell the DCW that city's police force is committed on the issue of women safety.
In a veiled attack on the DCW, which had summoned him to explain the delay in handing over data related to crime against women, Bassi advised the Swati Maliwal-led body to operate within its jurisdiction.
Maliwal had yesterday said that in case the Delhi Police fails to submit the data as sought by the DCW then the government body would exercise its powers before a civil court.
Bassi appeared before the DCW at 4 p.m. today for producing the required records and explaining the "unreasonable" delay in the sharing of data.
The DCW has informed the Delhi Police that it is conducting a detailed study on women's safety in the national capital for which it needs the information to make appropriate recommendations to the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP Government.
