Fake Bangladesh Terrorist Has Cops on Toes

Erratic confessions of a man, arrested for attending classes at a medical college with a fake ID, have sent police on a wild goose chase in Assam.

GUWAHATI: The erratic “confessions” of a man, arrested for attending classes at a medical college with a fake ID, have sent the police on a wild goose chase in southern Assam’s Cachar district. Sumon Aziz Laskar (22) claimed he was from Bangladesh and part of a terror module. He attended fourth-semester classes in the Silchar Medical College for four days. “He claimed he had obtained a transfer certificate from the Tezpur Medical College. But there is no provision of inter-college transfers. He also used different names to get introduced to some students,” principal Shilpi Barman told Express. Cachar SP Rajveer Singh said police arrested Laskar on Saturday following a complaint lodged by the college authorities.
