NEW DELHI : The Noida police on Sunday arrested six men accused of uploading a rape video of a girl on the internet.

The Supreme Court, last year, had directed the CBI to identify and arrest the makers of 12 such video clips that had gone viral. The CBI had declared a `1-lakh reward while releasing a photograph of an accused.

A Special Task Force official said the main accused had been identified as Sumit of Muzaffarnagar and the five others as Sanjay, Neeraj, Aanuj, Vinod, and Rajender who all hail from Badgaon village of Saharanpur. The CBI had directed the Uttar Pradesh police to assist in the identification and arrest of persons involved in the case. A team was formed under DSP Rajkumar Mishra to carry out further investigation with a photograph of an unknown accused released by the CBI.

“We had shared the details of this photograph with our informers in west Uttar Pradesh. The STF got a tip-off from an informer about the same person identified as Sumit and then shared the details with CBI. A team was sent to Muzaffarnagar and then he was arrested from there,” said Mishra.“They had shot the video in Badgaon village of Saharanpur district. Sumit said that he, along with five others associates, had made the clip and then circulated it,” he said. On 27 February, 2015, a Hyderabad based NGO, Prajwlla, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court and submitted 12 such video clips for investigation.
