Video Pertaining to Siachen Avalanche 'False: Northern Command

UDHAMPUR:The Indian Army’s Northern Command has clarified that the video, pertaining to the Siachen avalanche, doing rounds on the social media is false.

“It is doing rounds in the social media. I wish to confirm that it is not related to Siachen rescue. See the dress soldiers are wearing. It’s issued to troops deployed in altitude less than 12,000 feet. The avalanche at Siachen took place at 19,600 feet. Also, the boy is pulled out from just two feet.  It seems to be an old video,” the Northern Command said.

Braving snow blizzards and extreme freezing temperatures, the Indian Army rescuers finally achieved first major success when they were able to retrieve one of the ten bodies buried under huge blocks of snow and ice on the world's highest battlefield of Siachen.
