NEW DELHI: The government has decided to set up a separate body for women entrepreneurs along the lines of industry chambers like the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Confederation of Indian Industry, which will be dedicated to nurturing and helping female business professionals. The National Council for Women Entrepreneurs will include top female entrepreneurs of the country, a senior official in the Ministry of Women and Child Development told Express.

“We have already started contacting well-known businesswomen who would like to be part of the council and we are awaiting responses from them,” he said.

The official said that the council would look at various ways of promoting female entrepreneurs, including providing them with loans at lesser rates of interest.

According to a study, more and more women looking for alternative careers are turning to business in India. The Global Entrepreneurialism Report by BNP Paribas has ranked India on top for the highest percentage of female entrepreneurs.
