Anjali Damania threatens agitation, demands action against Khadse
MUMBAI: Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member and activist Anjali Damania on Thursday threatened to go on a hunger strike if the Maharashtra Government does not initiate action against Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse, presently embroiled in three controversies, and demanded the setting up of a fast-track court to deal with the cases against him.
A determined Damania said that she would give all proofs to the government against Khadse and compel them to act on it within a time bound manner.
“Till now, we have seen that reports are made, they take ages to come up, they get extension after extension and after it is tabled it is shown the bin. So, I have decided to go on a hunger strike till the day not just I receive Eknath Khadse’s resignation but I need in writing that the investigation of all the allegations will be done within six months and a fast track court be set up which will decide the fate of the minister,” she told ANI.
Damania further said the politicians were of the perception till date that the citizens cannot raise their voice against them.
“So, I want to break this. Till date we have been told that if you have the proofs you should go to the court and fight it there,” she added.
Damania also disclosed that veteran social activist Anna Hazare would soon be writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard to ensure a fair trial.
“I spoke with Anna ji and showed him all the papers as how Khadse has lied on the affidavit… Where does this money come from? Anna ji was very disturbed after seeing all this and he has decided that he will speak to the CM and write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” she added.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contemplating action against Khadse with reports indicating that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been summoned to the national capital by party chief Amit Shah to discuss the matter.
A delegation of Congress leaders yesterday met Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao and demanded Khadse's resignation over the land deal and his alleged involvement in calls made to gangster Dawood Ibrahim in Pakistan.
However, Khadse had earlier denied changing reservation of the MIDC plot at Bhosari, as acquisition process was in progress.
