Bengal building collapses after crude bomb blast

Mukesh said debris from the blast has been collected and the matter is under investigation.

KOLKATA: A non-operational Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) building in West Bengal's Birbhum district collapsed after a crude bomb blast early on Thursday, police said.

"A side of the Anganwadi building in Lokpur was damaged in the blast. The roof caved in and the structure collapsed. No one was injured as there was nobody inside," Birbhum district police chief Mukesh told IANS.

Locals said the blast occurred between 1.30 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Mukesh said debris from the blast has been collected and the matter is under investigation.

"It is difficult to say how many crude bombs exploded. It seems as if some anti-social elements had left them there. The remnants have been collected for further probe," Mukesh added.
