The Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a 43-year-old man accused of conning several people on the pretext of giving them jobs by posing as a Member of Parliament.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a 43-year-old man accused of conning several people on the pretext of giving them jobs by posing as a Member of Parliament.

During the interrogation, Praveen Kumar Singh, who hails from Sitamarhi in Bihar, revealed that he used to pose himself as a Member of Parliament to lure naive persons and demand money in exchange for securing them jobs or business contracts.

“On sustained interrogation, the accused revealed that he used to wear white Khadi dress to pose himself as a Member of Parliament in order to lure gullible persons and once the target was lured, he used to extract maximum amount of money from him in lieu of securing a job for him or his ward or earning him a business contract or plum post in the political party with the help of his associates,” a Delhi Police statement said.

An official release by the Delhi Police further stated that the Crime Branch nabbed Praveen Kumar Singh from security check gate of the domestic terminal of the IGI Airport on May 28 when he was on his way to Kolkata.

The cops have also seized seven mobile phones, five debit-credit cards, 24 wrist watches of different brands, 28 bio-datas of different aspirants, 77 blank letter pads of Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha.
