NEW DELHI: Days after BJP .raised the issue of over 400 families being forced to migrate from Kairana in Western Uttar Pradesh following threats from goons, a nine-member party team visited the area to review the situation on the ground. The issue had escalated into a full blown war between the state government and the saffron party as Uttar Pradesh elections is due in a few months.

The team met some families of Hindus who had allegedly migrated, said Suresh Rana a BJP MLA, adding it also had an interaction with officials of the district administration. "We have been raising the same issue in Vidhan Sabha for three years now. We only talk about migration when the atmosphere of fear is at its peak. Had the CM of UP wanted, he could have controlled the situation long back," Rana said, adding a report will be sent to the party leadership.

BJP leader Raghav Lakhanpal, who is part of the nine-member team, ,”We are enquiring. State should government should also come and investigate like us to know the ground reality…. Have observed there has been mass exodus of ppl from Kariana. Principally people are moving due to 'gunda raj' in state, he added.

The other members of the team include BJP MP and former Mumbai Police commissioner Satyapal Singh, former UP DGP Brijlal, also a BJP member, Bulandshahr MP Bhola Singh, Aligarh MP Satish Gautam, Aonla MP Dharmendra Kashyap. The team was led by Suresh Khanna, BJPs legislature party leader in UP assembly.

“It appears that the criminals are controlling the administration here, Satyapal Singh said adding  that people were terror stricken, psychologically they were broken, some sense of protection must be given. The MP alleged that families belonging to hindu community were being targeted by goons belonging to a particular community.

Congresss in-charge of UP Ghulam Nabi Azad said the BJP leadership stood "totally exposed" on how they wanted to exploit the situation and tell the people that the alleged migration is on religious lines while it was for economic reasons.

Shamli District Magistrate Sujeet Kumar has already ruled out any communal and law and order issues behind some people leaving the area. The fact-finding team was announced by BJP president Amit Shah on Monday during the course of its National Executive meeting in Allahabad after BJP MP Hukum Singh alleged there was a communal angle to the migration from Kairana village in Shamli district in UP where elections are due next year.
