Man gets 7-year jail for raping minor

A court in Sarangpur town near here has awarded seven years imprisonment to a man for raping a minor girl on the promise of marrying her.            

RAJGARH (MP): A court in Sarangpur town near here has awarded seven years imprisonment to a man for raping a minor girl on the promise of marrying her.            

Additional Sessions Judge A K Sharma yesterday awarded the punishment to Rajesh Gurjar, a resident of Alwar and also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on him for raping the minor, public prosecutor Devendra Meena said today.  

Gurjar had lured the girl on June 26, 2014, from Talen town in the district. He later took her to Rajasthan where he raped her on the promise of marriage.          

Later, on the basis of a complaint, police rescued the victim and arrested the accused. He was booked on charges of rape under IPC and also under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
