Student injured in school shooting in Jamshedpur

A Class XI student shot at a classmate inside the classroom of a private school at Sakchi area here today, leaving him seriously injured.

JAMSHEDPUR: A Class XI student shot at a classmate inside the classroom of a private school at Sakchi area here today, leaving him seriously injured.           

The classmate fired all of a sudden when both the students were sitting on a bench ahead of the school assembly. He tried to escape but was caught by the school guard, the police said.          

The pistol has been recovered and the injured student has been admitted to Tata Main Hospital (TMH).            

The accused student was arrested, officer-in-charge of Sakchi police station Anjani Kumar Tiwary said.            

"We are investigating the reason behind the incident", he said.       

School functioning was not affected due to the incident.
