NEW DELHI: Even as Subramanian Swamy continued his attack on potential RBI governor candidates, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley hit back terming the accusations as “unfair and wrong.”

After attacking Arvind Subramanian on Wednesday for his criticism of Modi before becoming the Chief Economic Adviser, Swamy targeted the Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das on Thursday alleging his involvement in a property deal case. Shortly after Swamy made his comment on Das, Jaitley, who is in China, tweeted, “An unfair and false attack on a disciplined civil servant in the Finance Ministry.” Swamy remained unfazed by Jaitley’s defence of his ministry officials. “Let him say what he wants. I have nothing to do with what Jaitley says. I can talk to  the party president or the Prime Minister,” Swamy tweeted.

Jaitley had on Wednesday debunked Swamy’s call for sacking Subramanian saying “Government has full confidence in the Chief Economic Adviser. His advice to government from time to time has been of great value.”
