NEW DELHI: Ruling AAP MLAs created high drama here on Sunday as they marched to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to “surrender” Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia against whom a complaint was lodged.

Fifty-three MLAs, including six ministers, were detained outside the Race Course metro station for violating prohibitory orders. They were later released.

“I had just gone to tell Modiji, ‘let us work for the people of Delhi’. If you are fond of arresting us then do it. But don’t obstruct the work of Delhi,” said Sisodia.

The latest confrontation between the AAP government and the Centre was triggered over a complaint filed against Sisodia by traders of the Ghazipur market, saying he had threatened them. This came close on the heels of the Saturday arrest of AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya on charges of sexual harassment.
