Maneka Seeks Expulsion of MLA for Horse Attack

Union minister and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi has asked the BJP leadership to expel MLA Ganesh Joshi from the party for beating a police horse during a protest on March 14 in Dehradun. “I have given a statement asking for his expulsion from the BJP,” Maneka, who also runs the animal welfare organisation ‘People For Animals’, said. She had also written to the Uttarakhand DGP seeking strict action against the MLA. The animal rights group PETA has written to BJP president Amit Shah and Uttarakhand Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal urging them to probe the matter and disqualify Joshi.  

‘Book Vishwas on AAP Leader’s Abuse Plaint’ 

A city court on Wednesday directed Delhi Police to register an FIR against AAP leader Kumar Vishwas on a plea by an party volunteer alleging molestation by him.  The court said the investigating agency had full liberty to arrest him if required during the probe. The court also said the complaint accused him of making “sexually coloured” remarks, which required investigation. “As mentioned in the complaint, the accused made sexually coloured remarks and made advances towards the complainant which require police investigation,” the court said. Directing police to file a compliance report by Thursday, the court further noted that “the investigation shall be done uninfluenced”.
