HYDERABAD: JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar here on Wednesday said that University of Hyderabad (UoH) Vice Chancellor P Appa Rao has no right to say that he has no permission to enter the campus as the VC himself is ineligible to be in the campus.
Speaking to the newsmen after meeting Rohit Vemula’s mother and brother at CR foundation in Kondapur, Kanhaiya said “From my fellow students I came to know that the VC said I have no permission to come to UoH. When he himself is ineligible to be in the campus, how can he tell me anything.”
“Through my sources, I came to know that the VC supporters are the one’s who retorted to violence yesterday. I condemn lathi charge on students,” he added.
He said that Rohit Vemula’s mother is like his mother and expressed that Rohit like situation should not come to anyone.
Referring to Rohit’s suicide, the JNUSU president said “Rohit died because of VC actions, Pressure from Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani and VC lead to Rohit’s death. “
“To divert the attention from Rohit’s issue, the JNU incident was racked by the central government,” he added.
Talking about university campuses Kanhaiya said, “There is a need to question the prevailing system in the university campuses in the country, the autonomy of university is a threat and students across the country should unite to fight against this system.”
He highlighted the fact that this is his first visit to any other place after he was released from the jail and said that his future course of action will be decided after meeting the students at UoH.
On the other hand, high security has been placed at UoH to make sure that no outsiders enter into the campus. The officials of UoH made it quite clear that the gates of the university will be closed to all the outsiders, be it Kanhaiya Kumar or others. Only students of the university can enter the campus, that too after producing their identity proof.
