J and K Governor to Meet BJP, PDP Leaders Separately

SRINAGAR: With BJP point man on Kashmir Ram Madhav saying no new condition of the PDP had been accepted by his party, the party’s J&K unit on Wednesday asked PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti to hold negotiations on forming a coalition government, even as Governor N N Vohra invited Mufti and BJP members for separate meetings on March 25.

“PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti should keep BJP in the loop and hold negotiations with party leaders on government formation,” BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir said. He said the party was the appropriate forum for engagement on government formation. His statement came after Madhav on Wednesday said that no new condition of the PDP on government formation had been accepted and the matter had not been discussed during Mufti’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, though it was discussed at the party level.

Jehangir said the BJP had been in favour of government formation from day one and hoped the PDP would take the first step towards paving the way for it.
