Special Measures for Differently-abled Voters in Kamrup District

All the BLOs were trained and instructed to assist these voters so that they do not face any difficulty while voting.

AMINGAON: To motivate differently-abled voters to exercise their right in the upcoming Assam Assembly polls, the Kamrup Election district has organised a special cell that will provide information and assistance to these voters.

The Kamrup Election District has organised a special cell by the name of K-DAC (Kamrup Disability Assistance Centre) which has designed a way of motivating the differently-abled voters.

The K-DAC cell has a toll-free number 1800-345-3975 where any person can get information about how the facilities will be provided at various polling stations, said a release of the election district.

A Facebook page has also been developed in this connection and anyone can visit 'facebook.com/KamrupDAC' to get update of the activities of Kamrup Disability Assistance Centre, the release added.

As part of the implementation of the strategy, certain devices such as posters, booklets, postcards are being sent to the Block Level officers to communicate the message to these voters to cast their vote.

Along with these steps, pasting of wall based signage, hanging of banners at the prime locations to attract along with application of Braille for blind voters in the polling stations are in full swing, it said.

Accordingly, all the BLOs were trained and instructed to assist these voters so that they do not face any difficulty while voting on April 11.
