JODHPUR: In remarks that could stoke a controversy, self-styled godman Asaram Bapu today alleged the law as "blind" while coming out of a court room here during a routine trial hearing.

"The law is blind. Here anybody could be sent to the jail. Only because a girl said something, so many persons are getting harassed," he alleged.

He claimed that he was suffering from over a dozen diseases and for that he required a "specific treatment".

He also claimed that his condition was getting worse day after day. "I wanted to talk to you but am not feeling fit to do so," he told mediapersons.

A teenaged girl of Asaram's Chindwara-based gurukul had accused Asaram of sexual assault at his ashram near Jodhpur.

Following the girl's complaint, Asaram was arrested by Jodhpur police on August 31, 2013 and is in jail since then.
