PATHANKOT: After witnessing twin terror attacks in Punjab in less than six months, state police has posted a Superintendent of Police (SP) rank officer at Pathankot to coordinate with other security agencies to thwart any such attempt.
"Superintendent of Police (Operations) Hem Pushp Sharma has been posted here at Narot Jaimal Singh area in Pathankot.
His job will be to coordinate and have synergy with other agencies like BSF, Army, Intelligence, Jammu and Kashmir police in order to prevent any terror attack," Pathankot SSP Rakesh Kaushal said today.
Sharma, who was earlier posted with CRPF, will also lead anti-terror operations and carry out combing, search and night domination exercise in sensitive areas near Indo-Pak border, the SSP said.
Sharma would also supervise armed battalions posted in Pathankot to check infiltration from sensitive points, the SSP said.
Gurdaspur had witnessed a terror attack on July 27 last year and another on Pathankot Airforce base in January this year.
