Four Militants killed in army foils infiltration bids in North Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A militant were killed as army foiled two infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

An army official in Srinagar told Express that army foiled two infiltration bids of militants along LoC in Naugam sector during the night.

“After being detected, the militants fired on the army men. The fire was returned by the soldiers. The exchange of fire between the two sides continued for some time,” he said.

The official said after the gunfire ended, the army men conducted search operation in the area.

“During the combing operation, body of a militant was recovered,” he said adding a weapon and some ammunition were also recovered from possession of the slain militant.

The official said identity of the slain militant and the outfit to which he belongs was being ascertained.

He further said army also foiled another infiltration bid of militants in Rampur sector in  North Kashmir.

The official said troops also foiled a militant attack on army’s counter insurgency 30 Rasthria Rifles camp at Langate area in border district of Kupwara early this morning.

“Three militants had launched attack on RR camp in Langate. The firing between the army men and militants continued for half an hour. The militants managed to escape from the area during the gunfight,” he said.

He said the army men launched combing operation in the area and encircled the militants.

“The militants fired on the soldiers, who retaliated. In the one and a half hour long encounter, all three militants were killed,” the official said.

He said some arms and ammunition besides food and medicines with made in Pakistan markings were recovered from their possession.

According to official, the slain militants belonged to Pakistan and their identity was being ascertained.
