KASHIPUR: A teenage girl was molested by a group of persons who assaulted her in front of silent onlookers, tried to disrobe her and later put an MMS recording of the incident on social media, police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday in Manjhra locality here in Udham Singh Nagar district when the girl had gone to an under construction building looking for her brother, SSP Abudai Krishnaraj S said.

Finding her alone, a group of hooligans in the area held her hostage, he said, adding, they tore her clothes, thrashed her in front of a large number of silent onlookers and molested her.

One of them even filmed the entire incident, he said. The MMS later went viral, causing outrage with angry locals surrounding Kashipur police station, he said.

After the incident, the girl reached home and narrated her ordeal to her father who filed a complaint and a case was registered under different sections of the IPC against seven accused who have been arrested. A video clip recording the incident has also been recovered from those arrested, the SSP said, adding, stern action will be taken against the guilty.
