RAIPUR: Security forces busted a Maoist camp following an encounter today in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district and recovered explosive materials and daily use items, the police said.

No casualties were reported on the either side during the gunfight, they said.

The exchange of fire took place near Chhote Hirma-Gumodi jungle in the Aranpur region when a joint team of security forces was carrying out a search operation, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dantewada Range) Sundarraj P told PTI.

The squad of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), the Special Task Force (STF) and the CRPF was carrying out the operation in forests bordering Sukma district when they spotted the Maoist camp, he said.

The patrolling team started surrounding the place when the ultras opened fire, triggering a gunfight, Sundarraj said, adding that after a brief exchange of fire, the rebels fled deep into the forests.

"As many as 13 bags containing daily use items, a few tents, some explosive materials and electric wires were seized from the spot," the DIG said.

No harm was caused to security personnel in the encounter, the IPS officer added.
