CHANDIGARH: Back to his aggressive stance, Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder on Wednesday took his battle against the chief minister to the latter’s home turf of Lambi with the filing of nomination papers in Malout and the promise to cook CM Parkash Singh Badal’s goose in his own backyard.

Launching what he described as the ‘grandfather of all battles’, Captain Amarinder, who went to the Badal stronghold of Lambi in a procession after filing his nomination, said he had vowed to wipe Badal from Punjab’s political scene.

Accompanied by cheering crowds and amidst the boisterous cacophony of drums, Capt Amarinder said he would teach Badal a lesson for all the atrocities unleashed on the people of the state during the last ten years, and set an example for all future chief ministers to ensure that they do not abuse their power to victimise the people the way Badal had done.

The road to Lambi had huge posters that said `Captain hun daharega, Chitta Badal harega’ (Captain will now unleash a battle cry, Chitta Badal will be defeated).

Amarinder who had on Tuesday filed his nomination papers from Patiala while exhorting the people there to take care of his home town while he takes on Badal, said he would give the thrashing of a lifetime to the chief minister in Lambi.

Asserting that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was nowhere on the Punjab poll scene,  Amarinder accused its leader Arvind Kejriwal of spreading false propaganda that the anti-incumbency vote against the Shiromani Akali Dal would get divided. The Congress would win hands down, and will make a clean sweep of these elections, declared Amarinder.
