Bhopal: One killed as under construction police building collapses

BHOPAL: One person was killed after an under construction Central Academy for Police Training building collapsed in Bhopal’s Bilkhiriya, following which Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a compensation of Rs two lakh for the kin of the deceased. 

At least 16 people are said to be injured out of which one is in critical condition. 

“Police and Administration officials are taking stock of the situation. The locals helped immensely when the building collapsed to evacuate the trapped laborers, who were working at the time the collapse occurred. 16 people have been admitted and efforts are being made to ensure no worker is still trapped under the debris,” Assistant Superintendent of Police Hitesh Chowdhary told ANI from the sight of the accident. 

Teams from the Madhya Pradesh State Disaster and Emergency Response Force (SDERF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are at the sight and evacuating the injured.
